Jessica Weinkle (Ph.D., ENVS, 2013), received a Ph.D. from the Environmental Studies Program at the University of Colorado with a secondary core in Policy. While working on her MA in Climate and Society at Columbia University she became interested in natural hazards, risk perception and the use of climate and weather forecasts in policy and society. Jessica worked as a postdoc with the Center in partnership with the catastrophic insurance company and Lloyd's syndicate, ICAT, studying the science and politics of insurance with special attention given to public insurance programs used to manage catastrophic risk. She is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Public and International Affairs at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington.
