ResearchThe Politics of Environmental Governance Forestry Policy Reforms in Developing Countries Two research efforts related to forest policy reforms in developing countries are underway. The first study focuses on the institutional underpinnings for successful decentralized natural resource management. The second research initiative is an over-time study of the relationships between rural communities and forest resources. With its thirteen research partners in eleven different countries, the International Forestry Resources and Institutions (IFRI) network studies 200 forest-dwelling communities according to a shared data collection protocol, which includes carrying out repeat visits every five years. Two books are underway on this theme:
International Climate Change Mitigation Strategies In collaboration with Professor Kenneth Richards at Indiana University, I work on issues related to the implementation of international trading systems for greenhouse gas emission offset credits. Focusing on credits from land use change and forestry activities, we approach this topic through the theoretical lenses of new institutional economics. Publications
