Tom is a human geography PhD student at the University of Exeter, UK, and is co-supervised by Professor Katrina Brown and Professor Robbie McDonald and Patricia Gaya. He recently visited the Goldstein Lab at CU, Boulder, on a three month fellowship funded by the ESRC South West Doctoral Training Centre. Tom is collaborating with a community of agroecological land managers in Cornwall and Devon, UK. Tom’s research contributes to both resilience practice and theory by considering how engaged, deliberative and collaborative research processes can facilitate relevant and beneficial outcomes for participants’ adaptive capacities. His research additionally aims co-create a nuanced understanding of the human dimensions of transitions to agroecological systems. Tom’s research is inspired by his previous roles as Senior Researcher for Clear About Carbon and as Project Researcher for the Soil Association’s Land Trust. Tom has completed an MSc in Sustainable Agriculture and a BA(Hons) in Business Administration. In his spare time Tom surfs, gardens, renovates his old cottage and spends time with friends and family.
