Call for Papers on Climate Change Communication and Social Marketing International Journal for Sustainability Communication Global climate change is one of the biggest challenges of our times. The events of 2007 – the 4th IPCC Report, the Stern Report, Al Gore and the IPCC's Nobel Peace Prize, the UN Conference in Bali, the many cities, states, nations and regions that announced climate emission reduction plans, and the intense media coverage throughout the year – have placed the topic high on the world's agenda. These recent activities must be seen as only the start of a long-term transformation process. Communication in its many forms, between and among many segments of society – scientists, policy-makers, government organizations, businesses, NGOs, educators, clergy, health professionals, the media, and the public at large to name just a few – is at the heart of this transformation process. To enhance understanding of the myriad ways in which communication has and will continue to influence climate change, for better and for worse, we invite papers for a special issue of International Journal for Sustainability Communication. The deadline for submission is March 25; the anticipated publication date is June, 2008. Papers should be submitted electronically to the Guest Editor: Professor Edward Maibach, Director, Center of Excellence in Climate Change Communication Research, George Mason University: emaibach@gmu.edu. Information about the journal can be found at: http://www.ccp-online.org. Note: The journal launched in 2007 under the name Communication, Cooperation, Participation: Research and Practice for a Sustainable Future. The journal's new name becomes effective June, 2008. |
