DRCOG Board Study Session on Climate Change:
What does it mean to the Denver region?

November 19, 2008
4 – 6:15 p.m.
1290 Broadway, Independence Pass Board Room (west side)
View Flyer

What are different perspectives on climate change? How might climate change impact Colorado and the Denver region? What are possible strategies for managing carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions at the regional and local level? What are potential costs, benefits, and societal impacts of policy proposals? Come hear a discussion of these questions and more at a special DRCOG Board Study Session prior to the November Board meeting.

Four speakers will present:

Stephen Saunders (Rocky Mountain Climate Organization) will discuss recommendations from RMCO's blue-ribbon Climate Action Panel.

James Taylor (Senior Fellow, Environmental Policy, Heartland Institute) will discuss free market concerns with regard to climate change policy.

Marty Hoerling (Meteorologist at NOAA and Team Member on the Western Water Assessment) will discuss a recently released report covering Colorado climate and water concerns.

Lisa Dilling (CU Center for Science and Technology Policy Research) will discuss climate change, use of information and adaptation strategies.

This study session is specifically for DRCOG Board members. DRCOG is also hosting a breakfast forum with a similar line-up of speakers on Thursday, Nov. 20, for member government staff and the general public. For more information on the breakfast forum, contact Jill Locantore at 303-480-6752 or jlocantore@drcog.org.
