Climate Policy in the US and the UK
by Roger Pielke, Jr.

April 30, 2009

Policy Exchange invites you to a discussion on the 30th April with Professor Roger Pielke Jr.

Roger Pielke, Jr. is known for his work in climate change policy.  He will lead a discussion about the current state of play in climate policy in the US, after the recent senate vote in principle against raising energy prices.  He will also discuss the UK’s Climate Act.  He argues that the UK needs to set more realistic targets, and that a UK climate policy recast in terms of accelerating decarbonisation is the way for the UK to properly claim global leadership.

Currently Prof. Pielke is a Fellow of the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES), and writes regularly for a number of publications including the Washington Post and the Los Angeles Times. He was Director of the Center for Science and Technology Policy Research at the University of Colorado at Boulder from 2001 to 2007 and a visiting scholar at Oxford University's James Martin Institute for Science and Civilization.
