15 June 2007 Roger Pielke, Jr., who has directed the CIRES Center for Science and Technology Policy Research since its inception in 2001, has ended his term serving as director of the Center and is headed for a year-long sabbatical at the James Martin Institute for Science and Civilization. CIRES Associate Director Dr. William Lewis will serve as the Interim Director of the Policy Center. 23 August 2006 Roger Pielke, Jr. was awarded the Eduard Brückner Prize for outstanding achievement in interdisciplinary climate science. He will be giving a talk "Disasters, Death and Destruction: Accounting for Recent Calamities" 5:30pm March 15 in the Baird Auditorium at the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History.

2 December 2005 Roger Pielke, Jr. participated in the series Lezione Italiane in Milan, Italy related to the publication of his most recent book, Science e Politia, by Latzera Press (Rome). The series, sponsored by the Sigma Tau Foundazione, Laterza Press and the University of Milan focused on the role of science in policy and politics.
