Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater

In December 2013 Björn-Ola Linnér and Roger Pielke, Jr. had a commentary in the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter that discussed the scientists campaigning democratic processes by invoking the authority of science. They argue that, "Such approaches to politics place a risk not only on effective policy making, which depends upon plurality in policy design and implementation, but perhaps more importantly the legitimacy of expertise in politics."
