Jorge Nicolas Received a B.S. in Physics and in Computer Engineering from Universidad de los Andes, in Bogota, Colombia.  He also received a Minor in Visual Computing and one in Chinese Language and Culture, as he spent a year as a visiting student at Beijing University (2007-2008). During the summer of 2009 he had the opportunity, founded by an NSF grant, to be an international REU at the Institute for Astronomy of the University of Hawai’i where he was introduced to Solar Astrophysics.  He continued working on numerical simulation of propagation of Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) in the solar system and later on automatic detection of CMEs on STEREO Spacecrafts image processing in collaboration with NOAA until the summer 2011. This is when he was admitted to the CU Physics graduate program.
