Creative climate communications

Course Materials

Throughout the term we will read, watch and discuss academic journal articles, book chapters and multi-modal climate communications. We will also look to gray literature (newspaper and magazine reports etc.). These are available through the course webpage. Other readings will be added as we go.

Instead of a required book purchase for this course, you will need to purchase an external hard drive for specific use in this class. Make sure you have your hard drive by the end of the first week of class. Recommendation: something with at least 200GB of storage

Because this course is partly funded through ATLAS, all participants in the course have access to Technology, Arts & Media Program (TAM) materials: in the past, check out hours have been 9am – noon Monday-Friday from ATLAS room 223. CHECK HOURS FOR SPRING SEMESTER. Give the course title from Atlas when checking out equipment 'ATLS4173'. Check the website for a list of equipment, checkout policies and current hours.

**Give yourself enough time in advance to get equipment before any project is due**

Your BuffOne Card will be activated at the start of the Spring 2017 term upon completion on an online form (to be shared in class in week one).

Selected Equipment Checkout Procedures:
Students must return equipment to an ATLAS Staff Member during these hours.

  • The maximum checkout duration is 5 days. The weekend counts as 1 day.
  • Failure to return equipment - charged and with all the accessories - to an ATLAS Staff member (e.g. leaving it on the ATLAS main desk) will result in a loss of check out privileges for the remainder of the semester.
  • Failing twice to return the equipment on-time will result in a loss of checkout privileges for the remainder of the semester.

IMPORTANT NOTE about equipment: You will not receive a final grade in this class - you will get an ‘incomplete’ - if you do not return all of the equipment on time and in good working order.
