Melanie Wood provides project and program management to the National Park Service (NPS) Climate Change Response Program to support the successful implementation of core program components through a broad range of partnerships and projects. In addition to supporting the integration of climate change considerations into NPS policy, planning, adaptation, and communication, Melanie manages the Future Park Leaders of Emerging Change Internship Program which places undergraduate and graduate students and recent graduates in national parks to work on high priority management challenges.
Melanie earned her masters degree from Colorado State University in Cultural Anthropology, where she conducted ethnographic research to evaluate residents' perceptions of and participation in cultural tourism on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. She holds a bachelors degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
