Becky is a PhD student in the Department of Geological Sciences, studying petroleum geochemistry and reservoir characterization. Her research involves characterizing micro to nanoscale geochemical phases in the Niobrara Formation of the Denver Basin, and understanding the processes controlling their distribution in order to help advance predictive reservoir models. She believes that scientists in the extractive industries should not only have strong technical backgrounds, but should understand and actively participate in policy-making processes in order to increase transparency between companies, legislative bodies, and the general public.
