Sarah Posner is a graduate student in human geography at the University of Colorado Boulder. She received a B.A in environmental studies from the University of Arizona. Her research interests are in food security, health, rural livelihoods, and vulnerability to climate change. As part of her Master’s thesis, she conducted household surveys within rural communities of Isiolo, Northern Kenya to assess coping and adaptive strategies at the local level. In Nairobi, Sarah will support work on development of impact based forecasts in Kenya that will be used to trigger early action before extreme drought events that occur. Sarah will carry out a data analysis of past drought events and the magnitudes of related impacts which will inform prioritization of indicators under the Forecast Based Financing approach.
