Flood Damage in the United States, 1926-2003
A Reanalysis of National Weather Service Estimates

States Data Set

Use the form below to acquire state-specific total flood damage data. Select a state(s) and year(s) from the dropdown menus, and choose whether you want the state flood damage data to appear as current dollar values, or in 1995 dollar values.

Multiple states and years can be selected in the following manner:

  • Windows Operating System: Left click on a state/year and drag the mouse down (or up) while holding the Shift key to select a range of states or years. Click on individual states/years while holding the Ctrl key to select multiple, non-sequenced states or years.
  • Macintosh: Left click on a state/year and drag the mouse down (or up) while holding the Shift key to select a range of states or years. Click on individual states/years while holding the Cmd key to select multiple, non-sequenced states or years.
  • Solaris: Solaris users using Netscape 4.7x will have to left click to select (or unselect) individual states and years. A range of states and years can be selected in this manner as well as multiple, non-sequenced states or years. If you wish to select ALL the states and years, chose the "Select All" option from the drop down menus. Solaris users using Netscape 6.x may select multiple states/years (in a range or non-sequenced) using the method described below for the Linux operating system.
  • Linux: Left click on a state/year name and drag the mouse down (or up) while holding the Shift key to select a range of states or years. Click on individual states/years while holding the Ctrl key to select multiple, non-sequenced states or years.
Instructions: Complete the three following steps to ensure a valid result.

Step 1 - From the menu below, select the state(s) that you wish to display. To select multiple states, hold down the CTRL key while selecting with the left mouse button.

Step 2 - From the menu below, select the year(s) that you wish to display. To select multiple years, hold down the CTRL key while selecting with the left mouse button.

Step 3 - Please be sure to select one or more of the checkboxes below.
